Small amounts of fats in our diets are vital, but saturated and trans fats heighten the risk of heart disease.
Limit the amount of salt you eat to no more than 6g (0.2oz) a day. Too much salt can raise your blood pressure and increases your chances of developing coronary heart disease.
Consistently consuming more calories than you need can lead to you becoming overweight. This can lead to increased LDL 'bad' cholesterol, higher blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
